Granite County Medical Center Wins National Award

October 10, 2013

Granite County Medical Center is the proud recipient of a Critical Access Hospital Recognition award from the National Rural Health Resource Center.

The hospital was one of five hospitals awarded nationwide for demonstrating excellence and innovation in the area of community engagement, in establishing the first dental clinic in Granite County in more than a decade.

Instrumental in the development of a dental clinic was a community health needs assessment, funded by the Montana Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) grant and conducted by the Montana Office of Rural Health Policy. In the assessment, residents identified dental service as a top priority for the county.

This need was parlayed into two successful grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration, a two-chair dental clinic built to professional standard, and a practice built for long-term sustainability.
